In this sermon Fr. Rob discusses how our rush to assign blame can sometimes overshadow our ability to respond pastorally and in a Christian manner to the victims.  In addition, we should avoid the temptation to become sucked into the shooter's insanity.  This podcast is a recording of the sermon preached by the Rev. Rob Baldwin on July 15, 2012 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence, Kansas.  You can learn more about Trinity Church at www.trinitylawrence.org

There are two dances in Sunday's lectionary: one is a ruthless, manipulative dance grounded in saliciousness and political intrigue; the other is an awkward, embarassing dance grounded in a celebration of God's promises.  Which speaks to our hearts, and to which do we choose to dance?  This is a recording of the sermon preached by the Rev. Rob Baldwin on July 15, 2012 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence, Kansas.  You can learn more about Trinity Church at www.trinitylawrence.org

Jesus didn't always succeed when it came to spreading his message, in fact in one instance things went pretty badly for him.  The problem he had is one we often have ourselves--the relationships with those closest to us.  So what's the solution?  This is a recording of the sermon preached by the Rev. Rob Baldwin at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence, Kansas on June 8, 2012.  You can learn more about Trinity Church at www.trinitylawrence.org or visit us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/TrinityLawrenceKS

In the midst of rushing to save a terminally ill child, Jesus pauses to heal a chronic yet not physically seriously ill woman.  Her suffering has a different quality, and Jesus' willingness to spend a moment healing her shows us how we are to treat those whose sickness is largely social, not physical.

Now here's a bonus.  This recording is from the 8:00 AM service, and if you listen there is about a two second pause in the sermon. It's at that moment that a mentally ill homeless man enters the church, illustrating perfectly what the sermon is all about.  This sermon was preached by the Rev. Rob Baldwin at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence, Kansas on July 1, 2012.  You can learn more about Trinity Church at www.trinitylawrence.org
