Most people, even outside of the Church, are familiar with the story of the birth of Christ and the claim of a "Virgin birth."  But there's also two other aspects to this story which are both pivotal and informative for the Church as we consider our own role in bringing Christ into the world.

The Gospel lesson for Christ the King Sunday features two thieves, each responding in their own way to the notion that the person being crucified with them was a sort of king.  How do their responses help us understand how we respond to the notion of Jesus as King, and on which side do we tend to fall?

Fr. Rob thinks much of the consternation of the "Parable of the Dishonest Steward" is because readers tend to see parables in a pretty narrow paradigm of understanding.  Once that's gone, not only does the story make more sense, but it also opens up for us a message about another steward-related word: stewardship.

What is one of the limiting factors on our ability to empathize with those in need?  Maybe it is our unwillingness to help those who are not close to us.  It is for this reason that the author of the book of Hebrews suggests that imagination is an important element of discipleship.  This podcast is a recording of the sermon preached by the Rev. While we rarely have the dramatic experiences that certain figures from the Bible had, or the dramatic incidences that frequently form the bulk of other famous Christian's stories, we have been given a wonderful, if subtle and sublime gift of the Kingdom of God.  That gift manifests itself like a kaleidoscope, transforming the normal and mundane into something beautiful.  This podcast is a recording of the sermon preached by the Rev.
