Trinity Episcopal Church Lawrence, Kansas (Sermons)

The focus on the Prodigal Son leaves out the son that Jesus intended his audience to identify with--a faithful, mostly obedient son who struggles with his father's willingness to forgive people.  Today, many of us share in that struggle.  This podcast is a recording of the sermon preached by the Rev. Rob Baldwin on March 10, 2013 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence, Kansas.

There is a pervasive anxiety in the Church about the future, an anxiety based in declining membership and cultural relevance.  It is anxiety manifested in magazine articles predicting the demise of the Church as an institution, in themes of conventions like "Walking by Faith," and in the sermon preached at Grace Cathedral the Friday of our Diocesan Convention where the preacher conveyed a question posed to him "Is there a place for me in the Church?"

It is to that question, and the anxiety beneath it, that Fr. Rob conveys a challenging but hopeful response from God.  This podcast is a recording of the sermon preached by the Rev. Rob Baldwin at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence, Kansas on October 21, 2012.
